After finishing school, at 18 years of age, students have the option to go on to university or a technical college to complete an academic degree for qualifications in their career path. Public universities are monitored by the Ministry of Education. Some of Harrow’s universities are internationally renowned as prestigious institutions of learning, including the University of Winchendon (est. 1209), University of Cheltenham (est. 1103), University of St. Edwards (est. 1410). Cheltenham (in Lothian) and Winchendon (in Strathearn) have an ancient rivalry that goes back hundreds of years.
